The meeting point for professionals in Scientific and Nature illustration.

An emotive day where finally, after a long time, we have been able to meet, hug each other and talk about what we like the most: Scientific Illustration.

In a wonderful, inspiring place full of knowledge: the halls of the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid. Mónica Vergés, head of the MNCN archive, gave us an interesting overview of the history of the IC and the illustrations preserved in the museum.

I have finally been able to chat and have a drink with professional colleagues that I still only knew by videoconference.

We have been able to share our lowest moments (from which we all learn) and also our greatest successes. The importance, details and techniques in the illustration of herpetology specimens in the museum were also discussed.

Everyone has had something to share and it has been a real pleasure to learn from everyone’s experience.

To all this we add the great privilege of being able to meet the great master illustrator Juan Varela in person, hear first-hand his experiences and work techniques, and enjoy many of his original illustrations and field notebooks.

It has been a pleasure seeing you all!!!
