Maratus speciosus

Maratus speciosus

Scientific illustration exercise.

Realistic illustration of a peacock spider (Maratus speciosus), together with an infographic of the dance movements that this species uses to attract the attention of females.

As this dance is comparable to a declaration of love, the different movements are accompanied by the poem “Corazon Coraza” by Mario Benedetti.

There are dozens of different species, with names as funny as speciosus, skeletorus, sersonatus or sparklemuffin !! They live in Australia and measure up to 5mm.
